OPTION 1 – YOUR DAY – The Greenway to the Falls:
A journey through time on this old railway line and a gentle mountain trail against the towering backdrop of the Comeragh Mountains.
Our meeting point is Suir Valley Railway Station, Kilmeaden. You will have time to enjoy a cuppa before we depart on the first of our short walks along the banks of the River Suir on the Waterford Greenway. Walking distance here is anything from 2 km to 5km. We will tailor the walks to suit the fitness levels of everyone. No one is asked to do more or less than they want. The key is not to walk at pace, more to slow down and soak in the beauty we pass along the way. Time for light refreshments of filled Waterford Blaa and a cuppa of choice before we depart to our next signature location.
From Kilmeaden we will take a short drive to the foot of Mahon Falls, in the Comeragh Mountains, which are spectacular at any time of the year. From the car park, we will travel up the mountain trail and visit the spectacular Falls, giving lots of time for photo opportunities. From the Falls then on to Crough Woods for a quiet ‘time-out’ by the water’s edge. We will return to our vehicles and drive to Kiersey’s Bar in Kilmacthomas ‘The Heart of the Greenway’, to sample their beautiful cuisine over dinner.
We will transfer in our cars to Durrow and experience the Waterford Greenway through the magical Durrow Tunnel and on to Clonea, a journey of 3 breathtaking kilometres.
Our full Camino 1 Day will allow for social distancing and the safe protocols needed to ensure that you enjoy your day with us. As we will be outdoors for most of the day and we are taking exercise in groups no larger than 15 in number, we can assure you that our organised guided tours will be the tonic you need during this difficult time.
Prices from €100 per person for groups 8 up to 15 max. Your day with Phil and Elaine will take approximately 7-8 hours from collection to your return and will include guided tours, mindful moments, mid morning snack and dinner in Kiersey’s Bar. Option to cycle to Dungarvan from Durrow Tunnel for a €15* supplement per person.
OPTION 2 – YOUR DAY – To the Waters and The Wild:
Take in the stunning coastal scenery of Tramore and Dunmore East
Morning: Scenic coach journey along the Copper Coast UNESCO Global Geopark. On arrival in the seaside town of Tramore, we have a choice of an 8km walk around the sand dunes on the beach or a beautiful cliff walk along the path from Newtown Cove. Ice-cream on the promenade completes the experience!
Afternoon: Visit to the fishing village of Dunmore East for a 4 km gentle cliff walk followed by a boat trip out in the bay. Brendan takes us on a voyage of discovery, sharing anecdotes on the coves and sea caves, and simply reminding us unknowingly of what really matters in life.
